A Lesson About Friendship
Just today, I bought and assembled the fancy “cat mansion” in the background of the picture above. About 30 minutes before this picture was taken, Ashton (the gray cat) was napping inside the little round cubby hole in his new cat mansion!
Furthermore, creating a space for open communication, much like Figgy being comfortable enough to nap next to Ashton, is essential. It shows that when we feel safe, we are more likely to share our vulnerabilities, building deeper connections and understanding with one another.

Ashton Adopts Figgy
Figgy is more than just a cat; he represents a new chapter in our family. When Figgy joined us, I was curious to see how Ashton would react. Initially, there was a bit of hesitation, as Figgy was a bit shy. However, it didn’t take long for the two to bond.
Figgy, the orange tabby cat, is a recent addition to our family. And Ashton has adopted Figgy as his “best buddy” and brother! Just moments before this photo was taken, Figgy came into the family room and lay on the couch for a nap. Ashton noticed Figgy’s arrival and decided that he would rather spend time with his brother than enjoy his lovely new home!
Brothers For Sure!
Interestingly enough, the dynamics between pets can mirror those of human relationships. Just like Figgy, sometimes we may find ourselves in uncomfortable situations for the sake of our friends. This speaks volumes about the sacrifices we make and the lengths we go to for the people we care about.
So Ashton sauntered over to where Figgy was lying and started grooming Figgy with his tongue. Figgy also returned the favor to Ashton. And then they lay down together for a long nap! I told myself, “There’s a lesson here”, and took the pictures!
The grooming session between Ashton and Figgy is a beautiful reminder of the importance of friendships, even in the animal kingdom. Grooming is a way for cats to bond and show affection, similar to how humans might hug or hold hands. It symbolizes trust and relationship building. Observing this interaction made me reflect on my friendships and the importance of nurturing them.
When thinking about those we cherish, it’s also vital to remember the moments we might take for granted. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or even a pet, expressing our gratitude can strengthen those bonds. A simple acknowledgment of their impact on our lives can go a long way.
Patiently Uncomfortable!
By the way, you can see from the picture below that Figgy isn’t very comfortable, as he’s ready to fall off the edge of the couch. But he doesn’t want to spoil this moment for his brother Ashton. So he puts up with the discomfort.
Adapting to new situations, like Figgy adjusting to life with Ashton, often requires time, patience, and a lot of understanding. It’s essential to create an environment where everyone feels secure and loved. This can also be applied to human relationships, where mutual respect and understanding are key components in making connections work.
A Simple Question
My question for you is, do you have anyone in your life that you value more than your home? Have you told them lately? Perhaps it is time to tell them how much they mean to you! Please find a way to spend some quality time with them today and tell them how much you care!
