Numbers
Numbers begins with a census at Sinai and ends on the plains of Moab, forty years later, with the next generation looking across the Jordan. In between is the wilderness: the march, the murmuring, the spies, Korah, the bronze serpent, Balaam, and grave after grave.
It is the book of the journey that did not have to take forty years. Its warnings are quoted all through the New Testament — “these things were our examples” — and its pictures, the lifted serpent above all, point straight to Christ. These studies go through it in order, the same way the rest of the Bible section does.
