Has Jesus Always Existed?

First, if Jesus really did write the Ten Commandments, He would have to have existed BEFORE He was “born of Mary”! Let’s see if we can find evidence that Jesus existed before Mary gave birth to Him, OK?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 1:1-14 KJV

Ok, so Who is being referred to in verse 14? Well, isn’t Jesus “the only begotten of the Father”? And then, once He is identified, verses 1-4 seal the question for the whole passage, except for the verses that mention John the Baptist! And once you understand that the passage refers almost entirely to Jesus, many other puzzle pieces begin to fit together!

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 14:15-21 KJV

Please notice the two highlighted words in the Bible reference above! I have listed the Strong’s Concordance entry for that Greek word below.

Strong's Concordance #1785
entolé: an injunction, order, commandOriginal Word: ἐντολή, ῆς, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: entolé
Phonetic Spelling: (en-tol-ay')
Definition: an injunction, order, command
Usage: an ordinance, injunction, command, law.

Here, we can see that the phrase “my commandments” obviously refers to the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20:3-17 KJV! And that Jesus considers them His “own” Commandments! This clearly implies that it was He who wrote them on Mt. Sinai!

In the Concordance “Usage:” field, we can see that the primary meaning of the Greek word is the equivalent of the English word “Ordinance.” This is a very common word used in “Law Books” at every level of city, state, and federal government in the USA!

Many modern translations of the Bible say, “15 If ye love Me, keep my commands.” But this is intentionally designed to deceive people! Rephrasing the verse like this implies that Jesus is referring to ALL of His commands in the Old and New Testaments when in reality He is referring specifically to the Ten Commandments! This is probably the most subtle yet damaging intentional error ever introduced into most Bible translations, and it is NO ACCIDENT!

Many people will object to the implications of what I’m saying at this point because they misunderstand the subject of “Faith and Works”! For more information on this subject, see my article “Faith AND Works Simplified.”
