Isaiah

Isaiah is a significant prophet because he foretold much about the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ! The book is about God’s desire to restore His chosen people to a good relationship with Him!

The whole book is one book. It was given by God through Isaiah — one plan running from the first chapter to the last — and Isaiah himself calls it the book of the LORD while he is still writing it (Isaiah 34:16). That makes it two things at once. It is prophetic, naming Cyrus a century before his birth and describing the death of the Servant seven hundred years early. And it is personal, because the same God who names emperors also says I have called thee by thy name.

It was written for the people who are watching for Christ’s return, and for anybody at all who picks it up and reads. The closing study takes this up in full: One Book, One Author, One Plan.
