A Book Worth Defending | Ancient Words

Contrary to Satan’s plan, Christ’s followers were not deterred by the persecutions they suffered. Why not? Because Jesus promised, despite all the trials the church might face, all the powers of hell will not conquer it. And be sure of this, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

By experiencing the power of the Word, the disciples knew that every person should have it personally available. Therefore, they began to write letters to send to churches and individuals. Through this process, evangelism became more effective.

These letters, along with ancient scriptures, are what make up the content in this book, the Bible. Thus, Satan failed to destroy the knowledge of the Word. But, refusing to surrender, he devised a more cunning approach to keep it hidden from humanity, confusing the interpretation.

The Roman Catholic Church

For over a thousand years, self-interested church leaders and authorities outlawed the private possession and reading of the Bible. They declared that the church alone held the true interpretation. Well really, they were using it for their own political advantages and self-interested ambitions.

Under these circumstances, would the Bible and its interpretation remain preserved?

Ancient Words

Verse 1
Holy Words long preserved
For our walk through this world.
They resound with God's own heart.
Oh let the Ancient Words impart!

Verse 2
Words of Life Words of Hope
Give us strength, help us cope,
In this world where'er we roam
Ancient Words will guide us home!

Chorus
Ancient Words ever true,
Changing me and changing you,
We have come with open hearts,
Oh let the Ancient Words impart!

Verse 3
Holy Words of our faith,
Handed down to this day,
Came to us through sacrifice,
Oh heed the Faithful Words of Christ!

Verse 4
Martyr's blood stains each page,
They have died for this faith,
Hear them cry through the years,
Oh heed these Words and hold them dear!

Ending
Ancient Words ever true,
Changing me and changing you,
Every day our hearts renew
Oh cleanse and change us through and through!

We have come with open hearts
Oh let the Ancient Words impart!
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the Ancient Words impart!

Groups like the Waldensians emerged, who refused to bend to the power of the authorities because they believed that the Bible and the Bible alone held the highest authority. Therefore, they became the keepers of the Word. For this, they suffered some of the worst persecutions the world has seen.

But they would not be disheartened, holding firm to the promise, Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. The influence they had on preserving the Bible and its interpretation will only fully be understood one day in heaven.

These faithful martyrs sacrificed their whole lives, but what did they hope would be accomplished through it? We’ll look at this in our next episode.

Closing Notes

Most translations of the Bible are based on the “Latin Vulgate,” which is stored in Vatican City in Rome, Italy. To trust these versions of the Bible is to put the wolf in charge of the sheep!

The King James Version is the oldest English translation that is reasonably easy to understand. It is based on the “Received Text,” meaning that it is the Bible as received from the Apostles and given to the ancestors of the Waldensian people. This makes the KJV the MOST valuable translation in the world! It is the version the Waldensian people died to protect!

The contempt being placed on the KJV these days is not accidental, but there by the design of Satan and his followers! “Higher critics” are constantly trying to convince us that there are errors in the KJV translation and that something else, based on the Latin Vulgate, is a better version! But this is NEVER true (not even the NKJV)!
