A Glimmer of Hope | Live Out Thy Life Within Me

The Greatest Promise!

The good news of a deliverer filled Adam and Eve’s hearts with joy. Their sin would be covered and the relationship with God would be restored. And this restoration would be made available to all humanity throughout the ages.

Isn’t Grace Enough?

However, the question arises, why was it necessary for a rescuer? Couldn’t God just forgive and forget? Like any good father, God wishes to keep us safe. And that is why He created His law. So if God was to erase their sin without the consequence, therefore changing His law, serious inconsistencies would be revealed.

Questions would start to arise. If God is perfect, His law is perfect. But if He changes His law, was His law not perfect from the start or is His law no longer perfect? If His law was never perfect or is no longer perfect, was God ever perfect? If His law was perfectly fair, but He changes it, could justice and love never coexist? Would Adam and Eve ever be able to trust God fully? Or would they be inspired to break more laws in the future? After all, God could just change His law again.

But if He changes His law, can He still keep them safe? Does He really have their best interest in mind? Does He truly love them? With these questions on the minds of all the angels in Adam and Eve, God had to prove that He had humanity’s best intentions in mind, and that His law was for their good. Therefore, He was willing to bear the consequence on their part. Adam and Eve’s doubts and fears were stilled. God had provided the answer to all their questions.

Live Out Thy Life Within Me

Verse 1
Live out Thy life within me
Oh Jesus, King of Kings!
Be Thou Thyself the answer
To all my questionings!
Live out Thy life within me
In all things have Thy way!
I the transparent medium
Thy glory to display!

Verse 2
Each member every moment
Held subject to Thy call
Ready to have Thee use them
Or not be used at all!
Held without restless longing
Or stress or strain or fret,
Or chafings at Thy dealings
Or thoughts of vain regret.

Verse 3
But restful calm and pliant
From bend and bias free!
Awaiting Thy decision
When Thou hast need of me!
Live out Thy life within me
Oh Jesus, King of Kings!
Be Thou the glorious answer
To all my questionings!

In the end, God’s love for Adam and Eve was the answer to all their questions. The same is said in our lives.

When we are led to doubt whether God has our best intentions in mind, we should trust in Him that He does. He has proven it. Now the question is, what is God’s law today? And how can we uphold it? We’ll look at this question in our next episode.
